Carol and Duane move ahead on priming the south side of the Parish Hall, prior to painting. The final color will be a light gray, designed to harmonize with the newly painted trim, the stone work, and the stucco.

Saint Andrew's-in-the-Valley
Thursday MEMO
for July 22, 2010

Services for Sunday, July 25th, will be at 8 and 10 AM with Coffee Hour following both services.

Assuming you've made your reservation, don't forget the Lobster/Steak Dinner, Friday at 6:00. Advance reservations were necessary to purchase the lobsters and steaks, but a few extras were acquired just in case. Give Sally a call if you'd like to come and haven't made a reservation (986-1276). Those couple of extras are on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Saturday, July 26th, 4-6 PM: Memorial celebration for the Life of Peter Booty. Peter, son of John and Kitty Lou, died early Tuesday morning of lung cancer in the company of his wife and two sisters, and a private burial service was held for the family earlier this week. Saturday's event is open to all who would like to attend. It will be held on the lawn of the Wentworth Estate on Wentworth Hill Road (Rte. 109).
Directions to 252 Wentworth Hill Road (the gorgeous house with the spectacular mountain view):
Take Route 25 into Moultonborough. Turn onto Route 109 N (between the Moultonboro Country Store and Moultonboro Library). Proceed on Route 109 approximately 3 miles to 252 Wentworth Hill Road. You will see a large white mansion on the right side, just after the road crests on Wentworth Hill. Look for the tent in the yard. Park along the road on the same side as the house. (From Center Sandwich, head south on Rte. 109. Tamworth folks may want to take the shortcut by taking Little Pond Road off of Rte. 25.)
Bring a simple contribution for the refreshments table, and, if you would like, a memory of Peter to share.

And on Wednesday, July 28th: A Live Webcast Conversation with Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori on the topics of the Anglican Communion, the environment, domestic poverty, immigration, and Haiti. The live webcast will be at 3 p.m. EST on the church's homepage. It will also be made available there later for on-demand viewing.
"Presiding Bishop Jefferts Schori will be addressing topics that are important in our lives as Episcopalians and as Anglicans," said Neva Rae Fox, public affairs officer and webcast moderator, in the release. "'A Conversation with Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori' will allow for closer connections and open conversations on the issues that are on people’s minds."
To submit a question for the presiding bishop in advance or during the webcast e-mail: newsline@episcopalchurch.org.

Next Sunday, August 1st, we will have ONE Service Only at 9 AM, followed by a parish brunch Open House at the rectory in Madison from 10:30 to 12:30. Beverages will be provided. Please bring something to pass. All are welcome!

Food for thought from Thomas Merton, from When the Trees Say Nothing:

A sweet summer afternoon.
Cool breezes and a clear sky.
This day will not come again.
The young bulls lie under a tree in the corner of their field.
Quiet afternoon. Blue hills.
Day lilies nod in the wind.
This day will not come again.

Savor these glorious days!

Readings for this coming Sunday: Hosea 1:2-10, Psalm 85, Colossians 2:6-15, Luke 11:1-13

See you in church!
