July 12, 2012

This Sunday, the 15th of July, the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost, there will be two services at 8 and 10 a.m., with coffee hour following. We hope you'll join us for worship and fellowship.

Readings for this Sunday: 2 Samuel 6:1-5, 12b-19; Psalm 24; Ephesians 1:3-14; Mark 6:14-29.

Morning Prayer every Wednesday at 9 am.

There are still a few tickets available to the consecration of our next bishop at 11 AM on Saturday, August 4th at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord. This Sunday, the 15th, is the deadline for getting your name. Please call or stop by the office to add your name . If more people want to attend than we have tickets, there will be a drawing. If our ticket allotment is not spoken for, extras will be returned to a central "ticket bank" and redistributed to other parishes. It is very likely that carpooling will be available. This is an exciting turning point in the life of our diocese. The Ordination of a Bishop is a deeply powerful and spiritually transformative event that binds all in attendance together in the power of the Holy Spirit with the church throughout history. I hope many of you will want to gather in Concord to witness and celebrate this beginning of Rob's episcopacy.

Please consider providing flowers from your garden during the summer.  The freshness of these flowers enrich our worship and delight our eyes. We encourage flowers to be given in memory, in honor of, or in thanksgiving, so please complete an envelope from the Altar flower chart in the Parish Hall and turn it into the office. If you do not have garden flowers and would like flowers to be ordered ($20), please note that accordingly on the flower chart and submission envelope.

Food for thought from Gratitude from Br. Kevin Hackett, SSJE…

The prayer of thanksgiving frees us from the bondage of our own too-small worlds. It lifts us beyond ourselves and our petty preoccupations. And it does not come naturally to any of us. Rather, paradoxically, like all prayer, thanksgiving is a gift, from God, for us, waiting to be received.

See you in church!
Blessings, Heidi+
