Morning Prayer every Wednesday at 9 a.m.

Are there names you would like to have remembered at the altar during All Saints’ Day service on November 4th?  Please take one of the sheets from the bulletin table this Sunday and place the returned sheet in the plate or the office.  You may also drop an email to Debra with your names. Email: office@standrewsinthevalley.org.

Last Sunday, helping hands with Fall cleanup was appreciated.  George followed up on Wednesday with cleaning the clutter from the “narthex shed.”  He took a whole pickup load to the dump and made easy access to the snowblower, the swinging sign and dinner bell sign.

We hope you will join us for a Saint Andrew's Harvest Supper and Pie Auction, to be held on Friday evening, November 16th. Tickets will be available at the door. Plan to come and invite your friends.! It is hoped that many of you will bake delicious pies (pies that can be frozen for Thanksgiving feasts are especially welcome) to be auctioned following the meal, beginning at about 7:30pm.

Note: Pies should be delivered on the day of the dinner/auction by 3 p.m.

Looking ahead: It is with great joy that you are invited to the Baptism of Connor, Albert, and Melissa, the Bunker children, on Sunday, November 25th, the Sunday following Thanksgiving. Their baptism will also be the celebration of their formal adoption by Kathy and Alan. We want to let you know, so that you might plan accordingly. Please be present to part of the congregation as we pledge our support to these three remarkable children (and their parents) and welcome them "into the household of God!"

Yikes! Our annual Boughs & Bonbons Christmas Fair is only a little more than a month away – Saturday, Dec. 1st.  This year, the committee is hoping to enlist the help of “many hands” to prepare the decorations for the approximately 60 wreaths that are such a popular part of our Fair.  On Monday, November 5th at 7:00 pm there will be a decorations prep party at the church (to include dessert/coffee).  And, since wreath decorations are fairly pricey, we are hoping that you can bring “no-longer-being-used” embellishments you have on hand as well as any natural materials  (pinecones, acorns, branches, mosses, lichens, etc) that you might find in your backyard or on a walk through the woods.  This should be a fun way to get us in the holiday spirit.  Hope you can join us. ~The Christmas Fair Committee~
Please contact co-chairs Lynne Clough (323-7046) or Patti Rau (367-8223) with  questions or offers of help.  Let’s make this Boughs & Bonbons the best ever!

Celebrating and thanking Bishop Gene Robinson. The ticket reservation deadline has been extended. Please let Rev. Heidi know by Sunday if you plan to attend.

Food for thought from Lynne Twist’s book, The Soul of Money

A reflection on the experience of sufficiency by the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore…

I lived on the shady side of the road
and watched my neighbors’ gardens
across the way reveling in the sunshine,
I felt I was poor,
and from door to door went with my hunger.

The more they gave me
from their careless abundance,
the more I became aware of my beggar’s bowl.

Till one morning I awoke from my sleep
at the sudden opening of my door,
and you came and asked for alms.

In despair I broke the lid of my chest open
and was startled into finding
my own wealth.

 See you in church!
Blessings, Heidi+
