St. Andrew’s is about to be on Facebook!

Deb is working to establish a Facebook page for St. Andrew’s. This is something the Vestry has talked about, and will be helpful to candidates in the search process. We’re excited to make this a reality. Thank you, Deb!

Before we go “live”, we would like to hear from you. Diocesan guidelines state that minors are never identified by name or contact information. But we will also seek parental permission to post pictures on Facebook, even without identifying information, and even if we already have permission to take pictures of your child.

Before posting any pictures, I also want to give adults the opportunity to “opt out”. As you know, we have countless pictures of various events at St. Andrew’s, many of which appear in the Thursday Memo. We would like to post some of these on the new Facebook page, beginning with the parish picnic. Over time we would like to continue posting pictures of current events, and may also wish to post old pictures as we build our page. We would never post contact information or last names, and usually not even first names. But if you do not wish to appear in a picture of an event at St. Andrew’s now is the time to speak up. Please let me or Deb know by Sunday, July 16 if you do NOT want to be included in a picture. If we do not hear from you by that date, we will post pictures that represent St. Andrew’s mission and events that may include you, without identifying information.

We will let you know when our Facebook page becomes live. At that time we hope you will “like” us and visit our page regularly. We will take it slowly. To begin with Deb and I are the administrators of the page. If you would like to post pictures or information about an upcoming event, please submit it to one of us via email.

Freedom
“For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become slaves to one another.” You are free, Paul says; in that freedom, choose love; and in that love, choose to be slaves of one another. Paul calls us to mutual love, mutual service, a mutuality that is appropriate to the dignity of each human being made in the image and likeness of God.
