FROM THE RECTOR
A HUGE THANK YOU!!

I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the many ways you all came together to make the Celebration of New Ministry last week such a wonderful occasion! The service itself was moving and beautiful, and the reception following was a joyous time of celebration, fellowship and family – and delicious refreshments! Abundant thanks to:

·         All the participants in the service and all of you who were able to attend
·         The choir, Bernice and Val for the beautiful music
·         The Altar Guild, readers, greeters, ushers, Eucharistic ministers
·         Joyce Carter for putting together all the bulletins
·         Nancy Spencer Smith for the gorgeous altar flowers
·         Sammie Wakefield, Barbara Lord and Lisa Thompson for the beautiful Peruvian stole presented during the service
·         Cathie Lewis and Pat Adams for organizing the reception
·         Claudia Kennedy and Patti Rau for the beautiful flowers for the reception
·         Gretchen Behr-Svendsen for the flowers outside
·         Dave Adams, Bruce Kennedy and George Rau for cutting the grass, weed eating, and making the grounds look their best
·         George and his crew for directing parking
·         Everyone who cleaned the church and Prince Room, and especially Cathie who organized the cleaning of the Prince Room and entrance
The many gifts and cards were so thoughtful, and I so appreciate all of your expressions of joy and excitement! Someone asked me last night if I was still feeling the “high” of that night, and indeed I am!

Bishop Rob gave me the formal installation letter last night at Betsy’s ordination, along with a beautiful framed quote. They will be on display in the parish hall, so be sure to take a look.

I’ve also enjoyed this time with my niece who is visiting this week. I will take her home on Sunday after church, and stay to help my sister settle in to their new home next week. I will be off from Sunday afternoon, July 1 – Sunday, July 8, and be back in the office on July 9.

REFUGEE CRISIS RESOURCES

Are you looking for a way to respond to the separation of families at our southern border, or interested in more information? Here are some resources.

Episcopal Migration Ministries (https://episcopalmigrationministries.org): Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM) is the refugee resettlement ministry of The Episcopal Church, carrying on a century-old legacy of Episcopal ministries that welcome immigrants and refugees. Their mission is to welcome refugees, educate communities on how refugees and immigrants make our communities and our country stronger, and equip advocates to speak out in support of refugee protection and resettlement. The action page for EMM can be found here: (https://advocacy.episcopalchurch.org/immigration).

The Episcopal Public Policy Network is a grassroots network of Episcopalians across the country dedicated to carrying out the Baptismal Covenant call to "strive for justice and peace" through the active ministry of public policy advocacy. See their home page (https://advocacy.episcopalchurch.org) for information on other area covered.
The New Hampshire Council of Churches: The Episcopal Church of New Hampshire is a member of NHCC, which works to unite Christians through prayer, learning, justice, peace, and stewardship of God’s creation with faith-filled witness and action, mutual respect, and understanding. Their page on immigrant solidarity (http://nhchurches.org/solidarity/) lists ways to be involved.

From the NHCC: Communities across New Hampshire will gather for #FamiliesBelongTogether rallies on June 30. These rallies will bring public attention to opposition to the separation of families at the US border. Locations near us:

· Conway, 10:00 a.m. on Main Street in Conway

· Concord, Noon at State House

· Portsmouth, Noon at Market Square in front of the North Church downtown
Ordination of Betsy Hess

THE JAMMING DIVAS
The Jamming Divas are at it again!
Jammin’ Divas’ jams and jellies were a big hit last year, and Carol and Chris are gearing up to make more, all to benefit St. Andrew’s outreach efforts! Joyce Carter has offered to sell their goodies at the Farmer’s Market as soon as they have new batches of jam ready.
They would appreciate your help too! What can you do? Donate to the cause:
·         Fruit- fresh if possible. Strawberry season is coming right up, followed by raspberries, rhubarb and then blueberries. Peaches are usually ready in August. If you are going to pick any of these local crops, please consider donating an extra pint or two to the Divas. And even better, if you have time, wash, hull and freeze them and pop them in a ziplock bag.
·         8 or 4 ounce canning jars.
·         Sugar
·         Powdered pectin
Thank you!!!
and Just your luck!  All current stock is $5.00 a jar for pickles, apple butter, miscellaneous jams and jelly ( lemon, Blueberry, strawberry) $4.00 a jar for zucchini Relish, $2.00 for pepper jelly.  We have a brand new batch of Orange Marmalade as well for $6.00.  Please call Carol @ 651-8230 or Chris @ 452-4049 for more info!  First come, first served.
As always, proceeds will help to support local charitable organizations through St Andrew's Outreach Program.

FORWARD DAY BY DAY FOR TODAY

Matthew 20:26 It will not be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant.

As I write this essay, the news media is obsessing over which billionaire is currently the richest person in the world. One day, the market performs better in one category, so it’s billionaire A, while the next, the market performs better in another category, so it’s billionaire B. Knowing precisely who the richest person in the world is doesn’t really interest or concern me, but it has made me wonder about our societal values.

Most of us are well aware of the way the world works, but imagine for a moment a society that lists the top ten philanthropists and humanitarians rather than lists of the people with the most money. Imagine a society that values teachers and other public servants in the same way as corporate executives. Imagine a society that treats serving our neighbors as the highest measure of personal success. That kind of utopia can seem far off, but it is precisely the kind of world Jesus invites us into—a world where the greatest among us are the servants of all.

MOVING FORWARD: How have you served others this week? How have others served you? Have you learned anything new about your servant heart this week?

 FROM Deb IN THE OFFICE

Thank you to Joyce Carter for manning the office while I was away and helping Caroline with bulletins for the celebration.

Just an update. Just a brief note to let everyone know that my mom’s move to Maine was a surprising success.  When we arrived we found out that there was an opening for her at Roe Village where she wanted to be (and expected to be on a long waiting list).  The Housing Foundation purchased  the land of my grandparents home to build the Senior Housing, relocating the house to another place.  My grandmother lived there and now my mom will be living there.  It is nothing short of miraculous how smoothly this transition has gone and everything fell into place.  She will be moving in the week of the 4th of July and I will be away (and the office closed) the 4th, 5th, 6th, to help her settle in.  Thank you for all your support during this time.
