FROM THE RECTOR
On Tuesday Bob Seston, Sally DeGroot and I went to Concord to meet with the Standing Committee of the Diocese to discuss our application for a $50,000 loan from the Diocesan Advance Fund. For our presentation Sally described the background work of the Building Project committee several years ago and meeting with all the roofing contractors; Bob summarized our current Raise the Roof pledge drive, and we showed them the video that Tim Huckman made, showing Tom explaining why we need a new roof. They thought the video was excellent, and had only a few questions for us. They told us we would hear their decision in a few days, and we departed.

While we were still in the parking lot, one of the members I know pretty well, Teresa Gotcha, came to the window and called my name. I went back and stood where I could see her through the window, and she said, “You got the loan!” Needless to say, we were a happy trio as we drove back to Tamworth!

I will be in touch with the CFO of the Diocese and with Mike Lord, our roofing contractor, and we will get the roofing job scheduled, I hope sometime in August.

Meanwhile, we are making good progress raising the needed funds. Pledges have begun to come in, the quilting project that Barbara Lord is leading is underway (see below for more on that) and Nancy Spencer-Smith, Patti Rau and I are looking into grants.

Thank you to those of you who have already turned in a pledge card and/or sent a check! If you sent a check without a pledge card, we ask that you still turn in a pledge card so we will know your intentions. If you have not yet made a pledge, please prayerfully consider making one. We ask that you return your pledge cards by Sunday, July 29. Together, we can do this!

Pledge cards for Raise the Roof project can be found
on the back wall bulletin board in the parish hall.

RAISE THE ROOF

As of this week beautiful fabric has been generously donated, and a volunteer is getting it ready to be cut into patches. Here is the plan for completing the quilt:

Monday, July 23rd is cutting day. We plan to cut all the pieces and put them into packets, with directions, ready to give to those who will sew patches together into 12 1/2” squares. We will meet at 9:30 in the Parish Hall.

Monday August 27th is assembly day. We will meet in the Parish Hall at 9:30 to sew the 12 1/2” patches into a quilt.

On Monday, September 10th, assuming all is ready, we will put the quilt on the frame and begin quilting, beginning at 9:30 in the Parish hall.

Everyone is invited to help make this happen. If you would like to participate in any way please let Barbara Lord know. Or just come to the Parish Hall on those days and enjoy the fellowship!

THE JAMMING DIVAS
The Jamming Divas are at it again!

Jammin’ Divas’ jams and jellies were a big hit last year, and Carol and Chris are gearing up to make more, all to benefit St. Andrew’s outreach efforts! Joyce Carter has offered to sell their goodies at the Farmer’s Market as soon as they have new batches of jam ready.

They would appreciate your help too! What can you do? Donate to the cause:

· Fruit- fresh if possible. Strawberry season is coming right up, followed by raspberries, rhubarb and then blueberries. Peaches are usually ready in August. If you are going to pick any of these local crops, please consider donating an extra pint or two to the Divas. And even better, if you have time, wash, hull and freeze them and pop them in a ziplock bag.

· 8 or 4 ounce canning jars.
· Sugar
· Powdered pectin

Thank you!!!

and Just your luck!  All current stock is $5.00 a jar for pickles, apple butter, miscellaneous jams and jelly ( lemon, Blueberry, strawberry) $4.00 a jar for zucchini Relish, $2.00 for pepper jelly.  We have a brand new batch of Orange Marmalade as well for $6.00.  Please call Carol @ 651-8230 or Chris @ 452-4049 for more info!  First come, first served.

As always, proceeds will help to support local charitable organizations through St Andrew's Outreach Program.

FORWARD DAY BY DAY FOR TODAY

Psalm 18:17 He reached down from on high and grasped me; he drew me out of great waters.
Even now, more than fifteen years after it happened, I can feel the suffocating weight of water pressing me down and down, robbing me of air. “So this is what it’s like to die,” I remember thinking. Then a voice somewhere inside my head told me to quit trying to hold on to the tree I could barely reach, to let go and let the current carry me away. And so I did.
I popped up somewhere downstream, grabbed a grapevine that happened to be dangling above me, and hung there, shocked to be alive. There’s more to the story, but what matters here is that ever since that day, I’ve understood what it means to be drowning one moment and safe the next. It is a gift simply to be able to breathe.
Passages like this one speak so clearly to me: I was drowning, overwhelmed, the psalmist says, but God plucked me out of the water.
MOVING FORWARD: Consider times when you’ve needed God’s saving grace, whether the “waters” be spiritual, psychological, or physical. How will you share the story of God saving you?
