November 1, 2012

We will have one service at 9 for this coming All Saints’ Sunday, the 4th of November.   Join us following the service for the Festive Brunch hosted by the Stewardship Committee to celebrate our pledges of support to the church.

To date 21 pledges have been received.  Thank you to those of you who have made your pledge for 2013.  If you have not turned in your pledge card, please do so and help us celebrate.

Reminder: Daylight Savings Time ends this weekend; Set your clocks back one hour!

Names of the departed. We will begin our liturgy on Sunday with the reading of the names of departed loved ones and others of importance to you. If you have names you would like mentioned, please phone (and leave a message) or email Debra immediately so that she can put the lists together Friday morning.

Readings for this Sunday: Wisdom of Solomon 3:1-9, Psalm 24, Revelation 21:1-6a, John 11:32-44.

ALL ARE WELCOME! Join us for Morning Prayer, every Wednesday morning  at 9, led by one of our three licensed worship leaders.

Plan to join us on Monday, November 5th at 7:00 pm for a Boughs and Bonbons decorations preparation party at the church. Please bring in any good-as-new items (bows, pine cones, sparkles, etc.) that might be used to decorate wreaths and other items that will be for sale at our Christmas fair on December 1st.

Take notice of the refurbished front doors!  Bob Bushman and helper, Ben installed them last Saturday and on Wednesday, Bayard Russell installed the new Parish Hall door.

Inquirers’ Class forming.  Are you relatively new to the Episcopal Church? Are you an “old-timer” who is experiencing a new sense of the Holy Spirit moving in your life? Are you hungry for something that will help you connect Sunday morning worship with your vital, week-day life? Are you just plain curious? Please drop Heidi+ an email. Our new bishop, Rob Hirschfeld, will be here on February 10th. The Inquirers’ Class may serve as preparation for confirmation, being received, or making a public reaffirmation of your baptism, all  rites for which a bishop preside.

Sunday, November 11th the Boy Scouts will be here selling popcorn following both services. Please plan on supporting their annual fundraiser.

We hope you will join us for a Saint Andrew's Harvest Supper and Pie Auction, to be held on Friday evening, November 16th. Tickets will be available at the door. Plan to come and invite your friends.! It is hoped that many of you will bake delicious pies (pies that can be frozen for Thanksgiving feasts are especially welcome) to be auctioned following the meal, beginning at about 7:30pm.

Note: Pies should be delivered on the day of the dinner/auction by 3 p.m.

Looking ahead: It is with great joy that you are invited to the Baptism of Connor, Albert, and Melissa, the Bunker children, on Sunday, November 25th, the Sunday following Thanksgiving. Their baptism will also be the celebration of their formal adoption by Kathy and Alan. We want to let you know, so that you might plan accordingly. Please be present to part of the congregation as we pledge our support to these three remarkable children (and their parents) and welcome them "into the household of God!"

Yikes! Our annual Boughs & Bonbons Christmas Fair is less than a month away – Saturday, Dec. 1st.  This year, the committee is hoping to enlist the help of “many hands” to prepare the decorations for the approximately 60 wreaths that are such a popular part of our Fair.  And, since wreath decorations are fairly pricey, we are hoping that you can bring “no-longer-being-used” embellishments you have on hand as well as any natural materials  (pinecones, acorns, branches, mosses, lichens, etc) that you might find in your backyard or on a walk through the woods.  This should be a fun way to get us in the holiday spirit.  Hope you can join us. ~The Christmas Fair Committee~ Please contact co-chairs Lynne Clough (323-7046) or Patti Rau (367-8223) with questions or offers of help.  Let’s make this Boughs & Bonbons the best ever!

Celebrating and thanking Bishop Gene Robinson:

*All Saints’ Church, Littleton: Saturday, November 3 from 2 to 4

*Grapone Center, Concord: Saturday, November 10 from 1 to 4

Food for thought from Von Christierson’s great stewardship hymn “As those of old their first fruits brought…” (705, Hymnal 1982)

“With gratitude and humble trust we bring our best to three,
to serve thy cause and share thy love with all humanity.
O thou who gavest us thyself in Jesus Christ thy Son,
help us to give ourselves each day until life’s work is done.”

See you in church!
Blessings, Heidi+
