REMEMBER TO SET YOUR CLOCKS BACK SATURDAY NIGHT!
(The Sunday 9:00 service will “feel” like 10:00!!!)
This coming Sunday,
November 3rd, we will celebrate All Saints’ Day with ONE service
only at 9:00 AM. We will begin the liturgy with the reading of names of the
departed, beginning with those who have died in the parish this past year, followed by the names of
others whom you would like remembered – both people whom you have known
personally, as well as public figures of importance to you. If you have not yet
turned names in to Debra in the office, you may do so by phone or email to the
rector (frantzdale@gmail.com). All
Saints’ Day is a principal feast of the church year and we will be joined by
trumpeter Randy Ouellette.
The service will be followed by a Celebration Breakfast
hosted by the Stewardship Committee. They will provide the meal. Just come and
enjoy the gift of good food and parish sociability.
Readings for this coming Sunday: Isaiah 1:10-18; Psalm 149; 2 Thessalonians 1:1-4, 11-12; Luke 19:1-10.
Thanks to all of you who
rolled with the punches last Sunday when we arrived for worship to an
unheated church!!! We held the 8:00 service in cozy fellowship in the kitchen,
giving thanks for the heat from two ovens. The furnace repairman solved the
problem by 10:00, but the church was still in the low 50s, so we opted for
worship in the Parish Hall.
"Money for Jail.
Kids love their dads.
Dads like to give their kids presents.
Help moms and dads love their kids."
A week from this coming Sunday, on November 10th, we will have as our special guest and preacher Tamara Kittleson-Aldred, the founder of Eleanore’s Project, the organization that Sammie and Carol have been working with that provides customized wheelchairs to children in Peru with mobility handicaps. This will include some special, active involvement activities for our children during a portion of the service.
Harvest Supper & Pie Auction
Friday, November 22nd– Supper
6-7pm followed by Pie Auction
We are looking for helpers on the dinner
preparation, serving and cleanup. Carol
Tubman is chairing the dinner portion of the things and she will have a sign-up
sheet in the parish hall. If you want to
contact Carol, please call 539-2780.
We also need
pies donated for the auction (See the reverse side for information). In recent
years you very graciously provided us with beautiful pies of many types,
helping to raise well over $1,000. We
hope to have a similar response this year.
Lynne Clough is in charge of this aspect of the event. Please call her at 323-7046 or email her at littlefarm239@roadrunner.com to
let her know what you plan to donate. If you haven’t come to this occasion
before, it’s really a lot of fun! Bring
your friends & family too.
Note: Pies should be delivered on the day
of the dinner/auction by 3 p.m.
Boughs & Bonbon's Holiday Fair is coming up fast! We are looking for a volunteer or two who would be willing to work on getting vendors signed up for the Holiday Fair. We do have some vendors who are coming back again this year, but hope to find some new craft people with interesting, salable items that would fit with our overall theme. Contact Lynne Clough or Patti Rau if you can help out in this way.
Pledge update and questions for reflection...
Thank you to those who have pledged for 2014.
Don't forget to open your "door" on our tree poster on the piano for a glimpse at the roots of our faith, our life in the parish and our outreach to the world.
How is giving a response to God's blessings?
How do you experience joy in giving?
How does giving help you to grow into the person God created you to be?
See you in church!
