Mark your calendars!
Looking
ahead to Lent, there will be two different opportunities for prayer and study.
The first is
a Preparation for Lent Workshop, offered by Christi Humphrey, which will
be held on Saturday morning, February 22, 9:30-12:30. See below for more information.
The second
is a book study using Amy-Jill Levine’s book, Entering the Passion of Jesus: A Beginner’s Guide to Holy Week. It’s
available on Amazon at: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1501869558/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
We so enjoyed
her book and video series, A Beginner’s
Guide to Advent, that we decided to use this during Lent.
We will meet on Wednesdays
during Lent, time to be determined.

Psalm 51:10-12
Each year, as we are invited to observe a holy Lent at the
Ash Wednesday service, we pray these lines from Psalm 51. The season for
returning and renewal encourages us to times of self-examination and repentance;
prayer, fasting, self-denial, reading and meditating on God's holy Word.
Perhaps you have
established habits which support you or maybe you are looking for inspiration
in shaping a practice for the Lenten season.
Please plan to attend this workshop in which we will look at and try on
different practices of prayer. We will consider what are the components of a
prayer practice, how to get started and how to keep it going.
Facilitated by Christi Humphrey, the workshop will include
times for prayer, contemplation, and conversation.
Christi
Humphrey MDiv, is a spiritual director, retreat facilitator, and a colleague at
the Bethany House of Prayer in Arlington, MA. She holds a Certificate in
Spiritual Direction from the Center for Religious Development. For twenty
years, Christi has accompanied others on their spiritual journey through
various projects -- spiritual formation groups, pilgrimages, mission trips, and
as a Minister of Spiritual Care.
WAY STATION Donations
Don’t
forget to bring your donations for the Way Station! We will send our
donations to the Way Station after the Annual Meeting this Sunday.
The Way
Station, which serves the homeless and housing-insecure in Carroll County is
looking for items to support their good works in the greater Mount Washington
Valley.
The
Way Station is located in a building next to and owned by the Lutheran Church
of the Nativity in North Conway. Its mission is to provide a safe, welcoming,
non-judgmental space and supportive services for anyone who needs it. This
day resource center is currently in need of the following items. In order of
priority:
Hand
& foot warmers
Cans
of hearty soups, chili, beef stew
Can
openers
High
protein, healthy snacks: nuts, trail mix (NOT granola bars)
Crystallized
coffee (boxes of individual sticks)
$5
cards to Dunkin Donuts, Cumberland Farms, MacDonalds
Warm
socks and white socks
Insulated

Re-usable
water bottles
Toiletries
(Hats

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY
Please keep in mind during the winter when the weather looks questionable for safe travel to call the church before you leave home to check for schedule changes. If a storm comes in on Saturday evening or Sunday, I will make a judgment by 7:00 AM about whether to hold, cancel, or delay services. Cancellations will posted on WMUR9. PLEASE do not travel if it feels unsafe to you. Enjoy a Sabbath morning at home and remember St. Andrew’s in your prayers.
If only the 8:00 a.m. service is cancelled, an email will be sent out to the regular 8:00 attendees.
SAFE CHURCH
If you are up for Safe Church Renewal
you must do your renewal modules on Armatus
then sign up for one of the following meetings online.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
COMMUNITY FOOD CENTER
The Food Pantry thanks you for your contributions throughout the year.
The Community Food Center (CFC), which operates out of St. Andrew’s Church on Old Route 25 in Tamworth, is looking for new volunteers to help with this important program. The Center is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:00 am to noon for clients to come in and pick up their food. On each of these days, two volunteers staff the Center and a CFC Board Member is on hand to help and answer questions. Scheduling is done bi-monthly and substitutes provide flexibility for volunteers who have other commitments.
