A Return to Near Normal!
The Bishop and the Reopening Committee have issued
new guidance on in-person worship, and we are no longer required to be physically
distanced or wear masks.
This Sunday, June 20, we will not change anything.
Next Sunday, June 27, we will begin to relax restrictions. But first I want to
hear from you! I know that everyone is not in the same place about this. Rather
than changing everything all at once, I want to know how you feel about the
changes.
Please take the time to consider the
following questions:
Will you be comfortable without a mask
or would you prefer to continue wearing one?
·
If you are more comfortable wearing a
mask, would you want to sit in a “mask only” section or are you comfortable
sitting with unmasked people?
Communion wine by common cup may also
begin on June 27. Intincting will not be allowed because
of the likelihood that fingers will touch the wine.
·
Will you be comfortable drinking from
the common cup or do you prefer to either receive the communion bread alone or receive
a small individual cup as we’ve been doing?
Communion bread will be distributed by
the Celebrant.
·
Are you comfortable with that or would
you rather bring your own bread?
We will have a parish wide discussion
about all of this after church on Sunday. If you prefer
you may send me your thoughts and concerns via email at rectorsaitv@gmail.com;
Please let me know your feelings by Monday, June 21 at noon, as we will discuss
this topic at Vestry that evening.
NOTE: The 8:00 service will also
resume on June 27.
The 10:00 service will continue to be offered
on Zoom and live streamed on Facebook.
A GRAVESIDE SERVICE FOR KATE CAUBLE, who died in December, will be held at Effingham Falls Cemetery on Saturday, June 19, at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome; please let me know if you plan to attend at rectorsaitv@gmail.com.
Blessings,
Caroline
Here is the blurb about the book from Amazon:
As the descendant of slaves and the son of a civil rights activist, Bishop Michael Curry's life illustrates massive changes in our times. Much of the world met Bishop Curry when he delivered his sermon on the redemptive power of love at the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Windsor Castle. Here, he expands on his message of hope in an inspirational road map for living the way of love, illuminated with moving lessons from his own life. Through the prism of his faith, ancestry, and personal journey, Love Is the Way shows us how America came this far and, more importantly, how to go a whole lot further.
The way of love is essential for addressing the seemingly insurmountable challenges facing the world today: poverty, racism, selfishness, deep ideological divisions, competing claims to speak for God. This book will lead readers to discover the gifts they need in order to live the way of love: deep reservoirs of hope and resilience, simple wisdom, the discipline of nonviolence, and unshakable regard for human dignity.

The Collect
O Lord, make us have perpetual love and reverence for your holy Name, for you never fail to help and govern those whom you have set upon the sure foundation of your lovingkindness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
First Lesson Job 38:1-11
In our first reading God appears to Job out of the whirlwind and demands to know whether he is wise enough to question the Creator of the heavens and earth. The challenge seems almost brutal. Job, out of all his distress, had complained about the unfairness of life. He is now forced to recognize how little he understands the ways of the world and of God.
Psalm 107:1-3,23-32
Thanksgiving is offered to the Lord, who saves from storms and other dangers those who call upon God.
The Second Lesson 2 Corinthians 6:1-13
In our epistle reading Paul continues to commend himself, together with the ministry of his coworkers, to the troubled Corinthian Church. Paul and his colleagues have proven the value of their ministry through multiple and profound sufferings, and also in the tenor and quality of their labors. They do all of this in service to Christ and for the benefit of those for whom they strive, and at great personal cost. They have opened their hearts in every way to the Corinthians, and now Paul asks that their love and care find reciprocation.
The Gospel Mark 4:35-41
The gospel is the story of Jesus’ stilling of the storm. The narrative was used in the life of the early church to stress the importance of faith in difficult time. Still more significantly, it served to emphasize the majesty of the Lord Jesus whose power could control destructive natural forces and, symbolically, the cosmic forces of evil. Audiences of that time would recognize the parallel between Jesus’ sovereignty over the storm and the power of God shown when he, according to myth, conquered the watery chaos and formed the world.
If you like meeting new people, sharing your story and your faith with others, lively discussion about scripture and other authors, praying together, all from the comfort of your living room, EFM may be for you! The Memorial garden and the gardens behind the parish hall, are in need of some TLC. Starting on Sunday, June 6th, and during that week following, we are looking for volunteers to help weed, cut back, and do whatever needs to be done to make our grounds beautiful for the summer months. You don’t have to do a whole garden, just do a section. Call a friend/parishioner to come with you, more hands, less work, and it is always more fun to chat while working. If you are able to help, please email padams419@yahoo.com, so we know who is available and when. Bring your gloves and tools!!!!! Thank you!!!
For all those who working with COVID patients, vaccinations and vaccines.
