FALL WORK DAY
In spite of the rain! There were many hands to help with tasks indoors and outdoors. View the pictures at the end in the gallery.  Thank you to all who stayed and helped.

FROM THE INTERIM RECTOR
As some of you heard on Sunday, I will be away from this evening (Thursday) through next Friday evening, November 4. This Sunday Gretchen Behr-Svendsen will lead Morning Prayer Rite I at 8:00, and Gretchen and Lisa Thompson will lead Morning Prayer Rite II at 10:00. Betsy Hess will preach at 10:00.

I will be attending a conference at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta on Saturday and Sunday led by John Philip Newell, author of numerous books on Celtic spirituality. I was fortunate to attend a week long retreat led by him on the island of Iona in June, 2014, and several of us who attended the retreat will be together at the conference in Atlanta – a bit of a reunion! Sunday afternoon through Thursday I will be traveling in Western North Carolina with friends, seeing the sights and visiting with some old friends. I’ll return Friday evening, just in time to attend diocesan convention on November 5.

In my absence, if there is a pastoral emergency or concern, please call Debra in the office or Sr. Warden Carol Tubman (539-2780).

Mark your calendars! There’s a lot going on at St. Andrew’s on November 6, All Saints’ Sunday! As it is the first Sunday in November, there will be one service at 9:00. We will remember the saints in our own lives by reading their names at the beginning of the service. We will dedicate the new altar frontal given by Heidi in thanksgiving for her ministry here with you (and beautifully made by Barbara Lord). Following the service is our annual Stewardship Ingathering Brunch, which is sure to be delicious!

During the brunch you will receive information on the formation of the Search Committee, characteristics and qualities sought in Search Committee members, responsibilities involved and various roles within the committee.  This marks the formal beginning of our rector search process, so I hope you will all attend (though information shared will be made available to those who are unable to be here).

I’m looking forward to my trip, but I’ll miss you while I’m gone!
Blessings,
Caroline

THE OFFERING
The Offering at Convention will be taken to benefit Episcopal Relief and Development's work to help Haiti in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. In addition to the offering, St. Paul's Church in Concord, in collaboration with the Haitian Community Center of New Hampshire and the First Haitian Baptist Church in Manchester, is filling a steel drum to be shipped to Haiti and delivered to families in remote areas. Items sought for the drum include nonperishable food as well as medical and baby supplies - click here for the full list. Please bring your own and your congregation's offerings and food donations to Convention.

FUNDRAISING
Harvest Supper
& Pie Auction
Friday, November 18th
Supper 6-7 pm followed by Pie Auction

We are looking for helpers on the dinner preparation, serving, and cleanup.  Carol Tubman is chairing the dinner portion of the things, and she will have a sign-up sheet in the parish hall.  If you can assist in any way please contact Carol at 539-2780.

We also need pies donated for the auction.
In recent years members of the parish have very graciously provided us with beautiful pies of many types, helping to raise well over $1,000.  We hope to have a similar response this year. If you haven’t come to this occasion before, it’s really a lot of fun!  Bring your friends & family too. Contact Patti Rau for pie questions 367-8223.
Note: Instructions for pies will be available on the Parish Hall Table.

SAFE CHURCH
There will be a safe church training on Saturday, November, 19, 2016 at St. Barnabas' Church in Berlin.  Registration begins at 8:30 am with class beginning promptly at 9:00 am and running until noon. Click HERE for more details.

STEWARDSHIP
“We are the sheep of his pasture.”
After prayerful consideration please return your pledge form and “sheep” either to the collection plate on Sunday or in the return envelope provided. Many thanks to those of you who have already made your pledge! Our ingathering and celebration will be on All Saints’ Sunday, November 6th.   Thank you for being a part of this flock!

ALTAR FLOWERS
Now that the garden florals are no longer available to adorn our altar please consider donating for the purchase of simple flowers to place on Sundays.  You are encouraged to dedicate flowers in memory or thanksgiving of loved ones and friends. Please complete an envelope from the flower chart in the Parish Hall and write on the chart for the Sunday you wish to dedicate.  Thank you.
