FROM THE INTERIM RECTOR
A Big THANK YOU to:
The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper Cooks and Helpers! George Rau and Tom Huckman were ably assisted by Joyce Carter, Marty Cloran, Vic DeGroot, Bob Seston, Kathy, Melissa, and Albert Bunker, Bev Hammond, Cathie Lewis and Lexi Davidson. Thanks also to Preston Mills, who said a beautiful blessing for us, and to Lisa Thompson, face painter extraordinaire!

We had a full house, with a nice mix of parishioners, friends and neighbors, and great camaraderie and conversation, not to mention delicious pancakes, sausage and homemade applesauce (thank you, George!). It really was a delightful evening, and I’m grateful to all of you who helped make it possible, as well as everyone who came. And, we made $183, which will go to outreach.  (See the photo gallery below)

AND Our St. Andrew’s Financial Review Team! David Manley, Jonathan Brady and Jen Huckman spent all day at the church on February 11 auditing our financial records from 2014 – 2016. It was a huge task (it really did take all day!), and a most important one. Many thanks to the three of them for spending their time on this, and for the report and recommendations they provided to the Vestry this week. Thank you to Bob Seston and Debra Hoyt as well, who were also here all day to answer questions and provide materials to the review team.
Faithfully,
Caroline

WOMEN’S LUNCH BUNCH
Lunch Bunch will meet on Wednesday, March 8, at noon at the Mountain View Station Restaurant in Center Ossipee.  This is an open group and invitation extends to all women in the parish and guests from outside the parish as well.  If you have questions or need a ride, please call Dale Appleton 539-3761.

RESOURCES FOR LENT
There are several Lenten resources available this year, either in the parish hall or online. In the parish hall you will find the workbook, 5 Marks of Love; Living Life Marked as Christ’s Own, which is what we will use for our Wednesday evening program. In addition to the workbook there will also be daily videos from the Brothers of SSJE. To sign up for these videos go to http://ssje.org/ssje/5marksoflove/. The video series begins this Sunday, February 26.
**Our Wednesday evening Lenten Study and simple supper begins next week on March 8. We will begin at 6:00 with supper, and end at 7:30. There is now a sign up sheet for bringing soup, salad or bread posted on the bulletin board in the parish hall.
It’s not too late to sign up for the program – join us!
**************
Also available in the parish hall are copies of Lenten Meditations 2017 from Episcopal Relief and Development. “This year’s devotional focuses on creating economic opportunities and strengthening communities, with a particular focus on empowering women. The daily readings are co-authored by a group of leaders from across the Anglican Communion, who bring a range of perspectives as they reflect on Scripture and other sources of spiritual wisdom.”  For more information go to: http://www.episcopalrelief.org/church-in-action/church-campaigns/lent.

Finally, there is Lent Madness, a fun and educational, sometimes (often?) irreverent online opportunity to learn about saints of the church. According to the website, “Lent Madness, the ‘saintly smackdown’ in which thirty-two saints do battle to win the coveted Golden Halo during the season of Lent,” begins on Thursday, March 2.
To participate in Lent Madness, go to http://www.lentmadness.org/ and sign up for a daily email (upper right portion of webpage), or “like it” on Facebook.  On the website you can also be introduced to the Supreme Executive Committee, Celebrity Bloggers and even Nina, the Official Horse of Lent Madness.
For more information click here. Also look for the Saintly Bracket and the Saintly Scorecard, coming soon to the parish hall. Too much fun to miss!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Dear People of God: The first Christians observed with great devotion the days of our Lord’s passion and resurrection, and it became the custom of the Church to prepare for them by a season of penitence and fasting. This season of Lent provided a time in which converts to the faith were prepared for Holy Baptism. It was also a time when those who, because of notorious sins, had been separated from the body of the faithful were reconciled by penitence and forgiveness, and restored to the fellowship of the Church. Thereby, the whole congregation was put in mind of the message of pardon and absolution set forth in the Gospel of our Savior, and of the need which all Christians continually have to renew their repentance and faith. I invite you, therefore, in the name of the Church, to the observance of a holy Lent, by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God’s holy Word.
-From the Book of Common Prayer

Blessings,
See you in Church!
