and Pie Auction moved to Sunday-November 18th
Sadly, we decided to cancel the Harvest Dinner and Pie Auction because of the forecasted storm. BUT… we will have a mini-pie auction on Sunday after church, beginning at 11:30. We will not hold the Harvest Dinner, but will have plenty of food at coffee hour. Come and join in the fun!
Though it really feels a lot more like January thank mid-November, Thanksgiving is just around the corner! I will be going to visit my sister in upstate New York next week for the holiday, and plan to leave on Tuesday. I’m looking forward to seeing most of my family – my niece will be home from her first few months in college, and my older brother and his daughter, Tori, are coming up from Mississippi. Tori is in her mid-20’s and is a nurse, working in a hospital, so her schedule doesn’t always allow her to join family gatherings. She missed our family trip to Chicago this fall, so I’m looking forward to seeing her and catching up on her news. She loves to travel, and hasn’t ever been to Canada, so I’m sure we’ll have at least one excursion over the border.
Like many of you, I’m sure, I don’t always get spend Thanksgiving with family, so this is a treat for me, and I am grateful. I hope that, whether you are with friends or family for Thanksgiving, your day is full of blessings. Happy Thanksgiving!

Collect for Thanksgiving Day
Almighty and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth in their season and for the labors of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful stewards of your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in need, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Joel 2:21-22 Do not fear, O soil; be glad and rejoice, for the Lord has done great things! Do not fear, you animals of the field, for the pastures of the wilderness are green; the tree bears its fruit, the fig tree and vine give their full yield.
When I think about salvation, I usually reflect on what it means for human beings. The vast majority of faith formation rightly focuses on human life and how over time we can conform and are transformed by the indwelling work of God. Joel helps us expand this vision to consider the implications of God’s salvation upon all creation.
Yet God’s love is not bound to specific species or objects or items. God loves us and is also in love with all of creation. The saints often reflect this deep insight into the love of God. The love and care for creation exhibited by Saint Francis and Saint Seraphim are two blessed examples. Does this mean how I engage with and care for creation impacts my spiritual life? It just might.
MOVING FORWARD: Spend some time in God’s creation today.
