Next Outdoor Eucharist – August 30 at
5:00 pm
Planning has begun for our next outdoor service!
We will follow the same basic template as before, but welcome any suggestions
to make it better. We also welcome any volunteers to help us set up and clean
up. Please contact me at rectorSAITV@gmail.com
if you have suggestions or can help.
We again need to know who’s coming in
advance so we can plan seating appropriately spaced for individuals, couples
and family groups. Please let me know if you plan to attend at rectorsaitv@gmail.com.
Please plan to bring the following:
- Bread for Communion
- Lawn chair
- Face mask
- Hand sanitizer
- Water
- Bug spray, hat, sunglasses, umbrella, fan (according to personal preference/need)
We ask that everyone follow these safety requirements:
- Stay at home if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or do not feel well
- Wear a face mask
- Maintain 6 ft. distancing at all times.
- We will exchange the Peace while remaining in our places.
- Because we know that the virus is spread through respiratory droplets caused by singing and speaking loudly we agree to refrain from:
- Singing
- Congregational responses, unison prayers and exchanging the Peace in normal volume. Instead we will make non-verbal responses or use very quiet voices
- Keep social gathering after the service to a minimum and maintain 6 ft. distancing

The Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost
August 23rd, Proper 16, Year A
Collect of the Day We center ourselves for worship in prayer.
Grant, O merciful God,
that your Church, being gathered together in unity by your Holy Spirit, may
show forth your power among all peoples, to the glory of your Name; through
Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one
God, for ever and ever. Amen.
LESSONS
First
Lesson Exodus
1:8-2:10
A new king arises in Egypt who oppresses the growing population of
Israelites and orders all Hebrew boys to be killed at birth. But the infant Moses is set afloat on the
Nile in a desperate attempt to preserve his life. Ironically, it is Pharaoh’s own daughter who
finds and keeps the child, undermining not only her unjust father but an
oppressive future regime.
Psalm
124
A psalm of thanksgiving for deliverance.
The Second Lesson Romans 12:1-8
In this lesson Paul urges the
Christians in Rome to devote themselves to God’s service and to recognize that
with different functions they are all members of one body. Instead of dead animals, they are to offer
themselves as living sacrifices. Their
way of life is to be quite different from worldly standards. So will they know the will of God. All are to live in humility, realizing that
they have their various gifts through God’s grace.
The Gospel Matthew 16:13-20
In our gospel Peter realizes that Jesus is the Christ, and
Jesus then sees Peter as the rock foundation for his church and gives to him
the keys of the Kingdom. The passage
helps us to recognize that during Jesus’ lifetime and afterward there was
speculation about his role. Some saw the
Son of Man as a kind of reembodiment of John the Baptist or another prophet. Simon is renamed Peter (which means rock),
for on him and because of this revelation the church will be built, although
Jesus’ messiahship must be kept secret for the present. To Peter are given the keys to open or shut
the gates of the Kingdom and so to make judgment.
Oh when the SAINTS begin to PAINT
The OUTSIDE of our PARISH HALL,
Oh we WANT to be IN THAT NUMBER
When the CHIPS begin to FALL!
Do you want a project with a beginning, middle, and end?
Do you like the “tssst-tst” sound of sandpaper clearing chips of paint off a wall and the swoosh of a brush as new protective paint is applied?
Do you like to see immediate results and rejoice when your job’s well done?
If you answered YES to any or all of the above, then YOU are WELCOME to JOIN THE TEAM to repair and repaint the outside wall of the Parish Hall.
Please phone 323-8245 if you are interested in helping out. (We will begin after the heat waves have passed.)

Updating the Prayer List
Please let Deb know if you want to put someone back on the prayer list going forward. Thank you for helping us keep our prayer list up to date.
How often have you just driven by one of these and wondered what it said. Let me encourage you to stop. You can find a list of markers along with a location map if you click on the link above.
TAKE A PHOTO WITH YOURSELF, PET, WHOEVER IS WITH YOU, LET ME KNOW THE DATE AND TIME OF THE PHOTO. Have FUN and enjoy the ride!
Next Food Pantry: September 2nd
O Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then, in your mercy, grant us a safe lodging and a holy rest, and peace at the last. Amen.
