Outdoor Eucharist – August 30 at 5:00 pm
Reminders for the service:
Please let me know if you plan to
attend at rectorsaitv@gmail.com. We need to know in advance so we can
plan seating appropriately spaced for individuals, couples and family groups.
Please plan to bring the following:
- Bread for Communion
- Lawn chair
- Face mask
- Hand sanitizer
- Water
- Bug spray, hat, sunglasses, umbrella, fan (according to personal preference/need)
We ask that everyone follow these safety requirements:
- Stay at home if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or do not feel well
- Wear a face mask
- Maintain 6 ft. distancing at all times.
- We will exchange the Peace while remaining in our places.
- Because we know that the virus is spread through respiratory droplets caused by singing and speaking loudly we agree to refrain from:
- Singing
- Congregational responses, unison prayers and exchanging the Peace in normal volume. Instead we will make non-verbal responses or use very quiet voices
- Keep social gathering after the service to a minimum and maintain 6 ft. distancing
NEW INFORMATION ON VISITING DAVID:
David will be allowed to have visitors beginning Wednesday, September 2. I am going to see him that morning, so it would probably be best to wait a day or two before visiting. Visitors must call the VA Center to pre-schedule a visit:
- To schedule a meeting call the Social Worker, Shanna, at 603-624-4366, ext. 6037. She will ask COVID screening questions and arrange a time
- David can have one visit per week, with up to two visitors for up to one hour
- Visiting hours are 10:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday
- Parking is on the right side of the main building; use the entrance on that side of the building
To help us keep track of his visitors, and hopefully
to ensure he has a visitor each week, Cathie Lewis will keep track of his
visitors. Please contact her at 954-651-8690 or clew0622@gmail.com so she can stay up

The Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost
August 30, Proper 17, Year A
Collect of the Day We center ourselves for worship in prayer.
Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all
good things: Graft in our hearts the love of your Name; increase in us true
religion; nourish us with all goodness; and bring forth in us the fruit of good
works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the
Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
First
Lesson Exodus
3:1-15
In
our lesson from the Hebrew scripture Moses is encountered by the Lord in the
burning bush. He is called to his
mission to lead the people of Israel out of slavery in Egypt, and he asks to
know the name of this God of his ancestors.
God’s answer to Moses is intriguing and mysterious. The response may
indicate a proper name which traditionally has been known as Yahweh. God’s answer may, however, suggest a meaning
like “The One who causes to be, “ or “ I am who I am, “ or “ I will be what I
will be.”
Psalm 105: 1-6, 23-26, 45c
A Hymn of praise
celebrating God’s forming of a people through the generations.
The Second Lesson Romans 12:9-21
In this lesson Paul exhorts
the disciples in Rome to live lives full of Christian dedication and virtue,
overcoming evil with good. One hears strong echoes of Jesus’ beatitudes. Also present is Paul’s own emphasis on the
central role of love together with the importance of a readiness to share in
both the joy and sorrow of others.
Blended with these teachings are some of the best of both Jewish and
pagan ethical counsel. The apostle
concludes with the insistence that revenge cannot be a motivation of
Christians; final justice must be left to divine retribution.
The Gospel Matthew 16:21-28
In the gospel reading Jesus teaches Peter and the other disciples that the way of his ministry and theirs is the way of the cross. Peter had just confessed Jesus to be the Christ, but now he cannot accept the idea of the Christ being put to death. Jesus calls Peter “Satan” because his words represent a temptation to him. Jesus’ way costs no less than everything and leads to the discovery of that which is priceless. In the end the Son of Man will come as judge to repay all people for what they have done.
