Thank you to everyone who helped with the clean
up day last week!! Cleaning was thorough and much of the furniture was brought
inside from the MiBox container.
Clean Up Day: We are grateful to Lin Frank, who
organized the day, and Christi Humphrey, Cathie Lewis, Bruce and Claudia Kennedy. Bill Lord, Stuart Lord,
Kit and Suzanne Morgan, Kevin Mort, Tina Quinn, George and Patti Rau, Lisa
Thompson and Sammie Wakefield. (Am I leaving anyone out?) They cleaned the
Prince Room and Parish Hall from top to bottom, washed the windows on the
interior and made a good dent in cleaning the kitchen.
New Kitchen Coordinator! David Manley
was the last person to hold this position, and for the last two years it has
gone unfilled. I’m so happy to announce that Tina Quinn is our new kitchen coordinator.
She will monitor supplies and let Deb know when we’re running low on something,
keep items in their proper places, make sure large appliances are properly
maintained, dispose of outdated items in the fridge, cull the duplicate pots,
pans and skillets and more. Many thanks, Tina!
Please keep John McGowan in your prayers. He was
admitted to Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover on Monday.
Don’t forget your masks! Masks are
required at St. Andrew’s again – please wear a mask whenever you enter the building.

Lesson Song
of Solomon 2:8-13
Our Hebrew
Bible reading brings us a celebration of love in the springtime of the
year. The lover bounds across mountains
to peer through the lattice of his beloved’s enclosure to summon her into the
meadows. There was considerable
discussion about the inclusion of the Song of Solomon in the Hebrew Bible, but
many rabbis found here an allegory of God’s love for Israel. Following this tradition, many Christian
interpreters perceived in the Song of Solomon an allegory for the love between
Christ and the church.

The
Second Lesson James 1:17-27
This lesson consists of a series of
teachings on the meaning of true religion: doing God’s word. Every good gift comes from the unchanging
Father. By God’s word of truth we are
given birth and have a first place among all creatures. Purified from anger and all other bad
conduct, we are not only to hear God’s word but to put it into practice. So do we observe the perfect law that sets
people free–the law as interpreted by Jesus.
The
Gospel Mark
7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23
In the gospel passage Jesus denounces
those who find ways to ignore the genuine commandments of God, and he calls
people to the awareness that the only evil which can corrupt a person comes
from within. His judgments are
occasioned by an accusation against his disciples that they are not following
the rules of ritual cleansing. On one
level Jesus’ words warn against the human tendency to fashion traditions that
become more important than the law itself.
More significantly still, his teaching points to the dangers involved in
making legalism the basis for one’s life.
