Stay Safe this weekend!

FROM THE RECTOR

I am pleased to announce that two of our parishioners are interested in being licensed to preach. Both are seminary trained and have experience preaching elsewhere. Ann is one of four ministers at Chocorua Church who rotate leading services there and has extensive experience in the Diocese of CT as well. Christi preached regularly at St. James Episcopal Church, Groveland, MA as part of her role as Minister of Spiritual Care.

The process for becoming a licensed preacher in the Diocese of NH requires study at the School of Ministry for those with less experience and training than Christi and Ann have. Because of their level of experience they will both preach at St. Andrew’s several times and meet with me for discussion and feedback after each sermon. On my recommendation to the Bishop they will then be licensed.

Ann is preaching this Sunday, and Christi will preach on February 20. I anticipate that they will each continue to preach every other month. I’m excited for this opportunity for them and for us – it is always enriching and formative to hear different voices from the pulpit. (And I admit I won’t mind a break from preaching every week!) Thank you, Ann and Christi!

Blessings, CarolineING

DIOCESAN CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

At our diocesan convention in November, Bishop Rob announced that the diocese is beginning work on a capital campaign to fund congregational, clergy and lay leadership initiatives. Information about these funds for New Life will be featured in the Thursday Memo in the months ahead so we can consider how they could directly impact our church’s ability to attract, keep and nurture quality clergy and lay leaders to help us flourish.

Consider: What challenges do you imagine the Bishop faces when wanting to support or strengthen new or existing ministries?

View Bishop Rob’s introductory video here https://www.givingsites.com/deeproots/

Introduction to Diocesan Capital Campaign From an earlier Thursday Memo:

After many years of consideration, Bishop Rob and leaders of the Diocese have decided to explore the readiness of Episcopalians in New Hampshire to support a capital campaign to raise funds for the vitality of the church.

We will be sharing updates with you so we can all follow the progress with the whole diocese. There is a dedicated area on the diocesan website devoted to this effort. There is also a brief survey there to share your thoughts about the proposed projects to help complete a diocesan vision. Please review the videos on the website from Bishop Rob and those who have already benefited from the proposed funding areas. https://www.givingsites.com/deeproots

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Hymn 435

1 At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow,
every tongue confess him King of glory now;
'tis the Father's pleasure we should call him Lord,
who from the beginning was the mighty Word.

2 At his voice creation sprang at once to sight:
all the angel faces, all the hosts of light,
thrones and dominations, stars upon their way,
all the heavenly orders in their great array.

3 Humbled for a season, to receive a name
from the lips of sinners, unto whom he came;
faithfully he bore it spotless to the last,
brought it back victorious when from death he passed;

4 bore it up triumphant, with its human light,
through all ranks of creatures, to the central height,
to the throne of Godhead, to the Father's breast,
filled it with the glory of that perfect rest.

5 In your hearts enthrone him; there let him subdue
all that is not holy, all that is not true.
Look to him, your Savior, in temptations' hour;
let his will enfold you in its light and power.

6 Christians, this Lord Jesus shall return again,
with his Father's glory o'er the earth to reign;
for all wreaths of empire meet upon his brow,
and our hearts confess him King of glory now.
