FROM THE RECTORIN-PERSON WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY
See below for our HOLY WEEK SERVICES SCHEDULE. I hope to see
you at one or more of these services.
A reminder that there is only ONE SERVICE AT 10:00 ON EASTER
SUNDAY.
The service will be followed by a POTLUCK EASTER BRUNCH. Please bring your favorite dish, and stay for some good food
and company before going on to your other Easter plans! We know what a good
brunch St. Andrew’s puts on, and I’m looking forward to the first brunch we’ve
had in over two years!
JOHN MCGOWAN’s MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on
Saturday, June 4 at St. Andrew’s. Weather permitting,
the reception will follow at his home on Great Hill Rd.
KELLY ANTONELLI’S HOUSE IN OSSIPEE BURNED DOWN RECENTLY, and she lost most of her
clothes and belongings. If you would like to contribute to a gift for her,
please write a check to St. Andrew’s and put her name in the memo line.
MASKS ARE NOW OPTIONAL in church except while singing, when our respiratory droplets can spread as far as 15
feet. There is an area in the back of the church on the Memorial Garden side
that is reserved for those who are more comfortable being masked and physically
distanced. Signs will be posted in that area. Masks are required for singing,
so please bring a mask or pick one up at the door.
As before, please, for the safety of others, plan to
attend church on Zoom if you have recently traveled commercially and/or been
present at large gatherings, or are not feeling well.

The Collect
Almighty God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord’s resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The First Lesson Acts 10:34-43
In this lesson Peter realizes that the good news of the gospel is meant for all people, and he proclaims the crucified and risen Jesus. At first Peter was sl ow to believe that god wanted him to bring the word to a non-Jew. But God has shown this to be the divine will, and Peter gladly responds to Cornelius, a Roman centurion, together with h is family and friends. The risen Jesus has appeared to chosen witnesses, and all who trus in him receive forgiveness of sins in his name.
The Second Lesson 1 Corinthians 15:19-26 In this lesson Paul describes the plan of the resurrection age: it has begun with Christ's rising, and this event gives us confidence that God will defeat death, the last enemy. Some of the Corinthians either doubted Christ's resurrection or held that Christians could already live a fully resurrected life of the spirit without any regard for the body. Paul insists on the reality of Christ's rising, which has made possible the hope of a new life in a world where all presently die.

Food for Thought
Gethsemane
The grass never sleeps.
Or the roses.
Nor does the lily have a secret eye that shuts until morning.
Jesus said, wait with me. But the disciples slept.
The cricket has such splendid fringe on its feet,
and it sings, have you noticed, with its whole body,
and heaven knows if it ever sleeps.
Jesus said, wait with me. And maybe the stars did, maybe
the wind wound itself into a silver tree, and didn’t move,
maybe, the lake far away, where once he walked as on a
blue pavement, lay still and waited, wild awake.
Oh the dear bodies, slumped and eye-shut, that could not
keep that vigil, how they must have wept,
so utterly human, knowing this too must be a part of the story.
~ Mary Oliver
