July 19, 2012

This Sunday, the 22nd  of July, the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost, there will be two services at 8 and 10 a.m., with coffee hour following. We hope you'll join us for worship and fellowship.

Readings for this Sunday: 2 Samuel 7:1-14a; Psalm 89:20-37; Ephesians 2:11-22; Mark 6:30-34, 53-56.

Morning Prayer every Wednesday at 9 am.

Last chance for tickets to the consecration on August 4th! We have two extras that will be turned in this week if they are unclaimed.

Announcing our next meal event:
On Friday, August 10th we will be hosting a Backyard Barbecue Bluegrass Bash! We’ll fire up the charcoal pit for a chicken barbecue with fresh corn, potato salad, coleslaw, and our (now famous) blueberry buckle for dessert, all with fabulous, live, musical entertainment by the Bluegrass Mountain Boys! So mark your calendar, invite your friends. 50% of our proceeds will go to local and regional outreach and 50% to the church. (This event is taking the place of our Lobster bake, since our lobster-boiling friends were not available this year.) We’ll need lots of help, so check out the sign-up list! Carol Tubman and Chris Mills will be co-chairing the event.

Parish Gatherings coming up: The Vestry invites you to participate in one of five comparable gatherings to be held at homes of parishioners later this summer. It’s been a long time since we’ve gathered groups of 10 to 12 together to talk about the life of our parish – our strengths, our challenges, and our hopes and dreams. Each gathering will be facilitated by two parish leaders; refreshments will be served. Bring you calendar with you on Sunday, so that you can sign up!

Our Annual Rummage Sale will have a few changes this year: It will take place in August this year to help families be ready for the start of school: Friday Aug. 24th and Saturday Aug. 25th.  Diane Lombardi is the chairperson.  This will be a morning event only, on both days. So start sorting your closets and clothes. We will be receiving contributions beginning on Tuesday, August 21st. Please remember: everything should be clean and in good condition. Clothing and fabric household goods only (linens, towels, curtains, etc.)

Looking ahead to other events in the Fall: Once again we will have a presence at the Sandwich Fair in early October. Our jellies, jams, and pickles went like hotcakes last year. So take advantage of the summer produce bounty and plan to help us out. Gretchen is the organizer of that event. More details will be forthcoming.

After that we have the Harvest Supper and Pie Auction on Friday November 16th:  Carol and Lynne, co-chairs. The Boughs and Bonbons Christmas Fair is on Saturday Dec. 1st:  Patti Rau and Lynne are co-chairs

If you have anything that you would like to have put in the Thurs. Memo, please email to the office by the previous Wednesday. Your submissions are welcome.

See you in church!
Blessings, Heidi+
