Sunday, the Feast of Francis of Assisi and The First Sunday of Pledge Season, there will be ONE
service only at 9 a.m. which will include a Blessing
of the Animals. Please join us for coffee hour following the service.
There
is a service of Morning Prayer on Wednesday mornings at 9 a.m. We hope you will
join us for worship and fellowship.

FROM THE INTERIM RECTOR
This
Sunday promises to be a wonderful day! Not only will we have the Blessing of
the Animals at our 9:00 service, it is also the kickoff day for our stewardship
drive. You will see that our theme this year revolves around sheep.

Throughout
scripture there are images of God's people as the sheep of his pasture, as his
flock, and of Jesus as the shepherd of the flock - specifically, the Good
Shepherd. We will be hearing more about these images in the coming weeks, and I
invite you to think about being God's flock in this particular part of God's
Kingdom. Sheep are known for their ability to recognize their shepherd's voice,
and to follow only their shepherd. How well do we listen, and how well do we
follow our own shepherd, Jesus? How do we as individuals and as a parish live
out our role as members of God's flock?
You
will find the stewardship mailing on the piano - please pick yours up if you
are here this Sunday. And come meet Barnabas, my very large stuffed sheep, who
will be in church on Sunday morning to greet kids of all ages! He's very
huggable.

CROPWALK
The
2016 Cropwalk is scheduled for Sunday, October 16th, beginning at 1PM. Walkers meet at the Sandwich Baptist
Church. The walk benefits the Community
Food Center and Dinner Bell. See
Gretchen at coffee hour or call 323-7459 to sign up as a walker and get
donation envelopes. Join the comradery in this powerful outreach program.
AS WE APPROACH CONVENTION
Please
think about helping with these very important Outreach programs:
The ChIP’s (Children of Incarcerated Parents) Project, a program of the Episcopal Church in New Hampshire, provides Christmas gifts for incarcerated parents to give to their children. Each October we invite contributions of cash or gifts to this hugely-needed and much-appreciated project. Please mail cash contributions to the church or put them in the plate. Look for more information in your bulletin this week!
