-            FROM THE INTERIM RECTOR           -

We had such a gorgeous day for the Parish Picnic! Temperature in the 70’s, low humidity, sunshine and a breeze (sometimes a wind!). I’m told the water wasn’t cold, thought I didn’t sample it. We filled the pavilion, enticed a few guests to join us, and celebrated the Eucharist in the beauty of God’s creation. It was perfect, made so by many hands and a joyful spirit of camaraderie and willingness to pitch in and do what needed to be done. Abundant thanks to so many of you:

Sammie, who brought everything we needed for the service, neatly packed into two manageable boxes, and Patti and Claudia who helped set up;

Gretchen, who brought the flowers;

Tom and George, our cooks, who also brought grills, kitchen utensils, and more;

Hettie, who bought the meats and drinks;

Carol, who rounded up coolers and bought ice and condiments;

David, who handled the logistics of reserving the pavilion;

The choir, who led our music, and Preston on his drum;

And to everyone who brought delicious side dishes!

Love
When I’m hurting or afraid or anxious, it can be hard to go to sleep. So by reviewing the day, I remember I was caught, I was loved. I can go to sleep, trusting for gifts of love tomorrow. “For what am I most thankful today? When was I most fully alive? How did I receive love? How did I give love?”

This practice of prayer, from the examen of Saint Ignatius, helps many go to sleep.
