FROM THE RECTOR

The Buildings and Grounds Committee, under the excellent leadership of Lin Frank, continues to work on our project list. The major item we've checked off the list is paving the parking lot, and we're really excited about how that came out, aside from the one low area that will be repaired.

We have two large projects we plan to complete this fall: the purchase of a new boiler and replacing the kitchen floor, refrigerator and stove. We were told last spring that we need a new boiler before this year's heating season, have been in touch with several companies to get estimates and hope to move forward after this month's Vestry meeting. In the kitchen, we're told our refrigerator is nearing the end of it's life, and the flooring is coming up. While we are doing this work we will also replace the kitchen stove, which is larger than we need and a drain on our propane bill with its many pilot lights. We will recommend replacement items at this month's Vestry meeting.

Thanks to your generous pledges to the Buildings and Grounds Project fundraiser and the anonymous gift we received this year we have enough money to complete both of these projects! We are excited about the parking lot and the upcoming kitchen upgrades and new boiler.

Many thanks to all of the Buildings and Grounds Committee members: Lin Frank, Pat Adams, Patti and George Rau and Lisa Thompson; and to all of you who pledged donations for our buildings and grounds projects!

The CDC continues to classify Carroll County in the low range for community spread of Covid. This will be updated as needed, but for now masks are optional in church.

Blessings, Caroline

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

There appeared a woman with a spirit
that had crippled her for eighteen years.
           She was bent over
and was quite unable to stand up straight.
                           —Luke 13.11

What is bent over in you?
What is pushed over, put down,
made weak, or silenced?
What beauty is hidden,
what capacity stilled?
What in you is bound up,
distorted, facing downward?
How have you given up hope?
How have you been told that you can't?
That you deserve it?
That this is not the time for healing?

Let the bent over woman in you come forward.
Let Jesus lay a healing hand on her.
Don't expect instant change, but know this:
the spirit that distorts you
is not as strong as love.
