for July 15, 2010
Services for Sunday, July 18th, will be at 8 and 10 AM with both services followed by coffee hour.
Our Annual Lobster Bake/Steak Grill will be held this coming week -- Friday, July 23rd at 6 PM. Advance reservations are required so that we can order the appropriate number of lobsters and steaks. The deadline for making your reservation is this coming Sunday! Tickets will be available after both services or reservations can be made by calling Sally DeGroot at 986-1276. Invite your friends TODAY if you haven't already done so.
Proceeds will go to the support of three Tamworth organizations: the Bearcamp Valley School, the Tamworth Community Nurse Association, and the Tamworth Community Nurse Association. Our support of these organizations extends our reach as we do our part "to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves."
We have sent anniversary greetings to the Anglican Church in Tamworth, England, Saint Martin-in-the-Delph. Three months ago we received a note from the church in Tamworth, England as they began to make preparations for celebrating their 20th anniversary, inviting us, as the church in Tamworth, NH, to send greetings to them on that occasion. This is their anniversary weekend, and we will be remembering them in our prayers this coming Sunday, giving thanks for their ministry.
Sonya Britton, their chief organizer, used to work for their local paper, the Tamworth Herald, and in that capacity was aware of Tamworth, NH as a sort of "sister village." Apparently on occasion they did stories that linked the two Tamworths, so she was pleased to discover our web site and establish a link between our churches as well. Check our parish bulletin board for more information about their church!
In response to their request, we sent them a small packet with pictures of our parish, along with the following letter:
To: Saint Martin-in-the-Delph Church, Tamworth, Staffordshire, England
The People of Saint Andrew's and our rector, the Reverend Heidi Frantz-Dale, send hearty and gracious greetings in the name of Christ on the occasion of your 20th anniversary celebration July 16-18. Please know that your clergy, the Reverend Ian Murray (rector), and the staff and congregation of Saint Martin's Church will be in our hearts and prayers during this joyful occasion. We wish you many more years of fruitful work in God's kingdom.
We are a small but vigorous church located in the Ossipee Valley of the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. We have included pictures of our church, the area, and our congregation.
Sincerely, T. Sammie Wakefield, Senior Warden (for the Vestry)
The Rev. Heidi Frantz-Dale, Rector
