We thank you, almighty God, for the gift of water...
from the Baptismal liturgy BCP p. 306

Saint Andrew's Thursday MEMO
for July 8, 2010

Services for Sunday, July 11th, will be at 8 and 10 AM. Both services will be followed by coffee hour.

TONIGHT, Thursday, July 8th: "Threats to New England Lakes & Ponds" at Tin Mountain Conservation Center on Bald Hill Road in Albany, presented by Roger Wheeler . Roger has participated in the water quality debate in New England for many years and understands the problems that confront out regions water systems. Tonight's event will focus on key threats to lakes and rivers and the unnatural regulation of freshwater flows created by dams. [Cost to non-members is $3/person and $5/family; Tin Mountain members are free.]

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: We are called by God to be stewards of creation, but how easy it is to leave that work to someone else. This is certainly the week in which I hope all of us have given thanks for the gift of water, as we hydrate ourselves in this heat and as we cool off by plunging into our favorite swimming hole or enjoy the pleasures of a cool shower. Perhaps tonight's program at Tin Mountain will raise some new awareness and move us to taking a more active role in the preservation of the blessings that surround us in the natural world.

Our Annual Lobster Bake/Steak Grill will be held two weeks from tomorrow -- Friday, July 23rd. Advance reservation are required. Tickets will be available after both services. Invite your friends and help get the word out. Proceeds will go to the support of three Tamworth organizations: the Bearcamp Valley School, the Tamworth Community Nurses, and the Tamworth Caregivers. Our support of these organizations extends our reach as we do our part to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves.

Readings for this coming Sunday: Amos 7:7-17, Psalm 82, Colossians 1:1-14, and Luke 10:25-37

See you in church.

Blessings, Heidi+
