FROM THE RECTOR
The time after Easter is usually a quiet period in the life of the church, and this year is even more so than usual. Though we are in the Easter season it still feels a bit like being in the wilderness. There is no time frame for being able to again gather together at St. Andrew’s. Even at whatever time the Governor begins to lift restrictions, many of us are in the high risk category because of our age or underlying health issues, so we will not rush to gather in person.
But
our worship services and coffee hour gatherings are wonderful! It is a joy to
see you all via Zoom and to have the chance to share a little of what our lives
are like under the “Stay at home” order. Our conversations often focus on the
things we are grateful for in the midst of this strange time, and the community
that we are able to continue on Zoom is one of the things for which I am most
grateful. Praying Compline with you Monday – Thursday evenings is a beautiful
way for me to end the day. If you haven’t joined us yet for Compline I
encourage you to tune in!
I
think I’ve learned how to effectively incorporate recorded music in Zoom now,
so we will test this out on Sunday. Bunny and I are going to record an organ
piece to use as the prelude on Sunday, and we’ll try a recorded hymn too.
Assuming the sound quality is good, we’ll continue this on Sunday mornings. Let
me know how it sounds!
I
hope to see you tonight for Compline and on Sunday morning! Blessings on this
beautiful day!
Caroline

TIPS FOR AVOIDING THE FLU OR CORONAVIRUS
Wash your hands frequently, especially before and after contact with others.
Wear a mask when around others in public places.
It’s not too late to get your flu shot. While our primary concern is the spread of COVID-19, this is also a bad flu season. If people have not gotten a flu vaccine, there’s still time before the expected second wave of seasonal flu infections.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Whichever
way we turn, O God,
there
is your face
in
the light of the moon and patterns of stars,
in
scarred mountain rifts and ancient groves,
in
mighty seas and creatures of the deep.
Whichever
way we turn, O God,
there
is your face, O God,
there
is your face
in
the light of eyes we love,
in
the salt of tears we have tasted,
in
weathered countenances east and west,
in
the soft skin glow of the child everywhere.
Whichever
way we turn, O God,
there
is your face,
there
is your face among us.
