receive it yet by mail, you can click HERE to read. Please
review the information about our bids and come to the meeting with your
questions.
In
addition to the information in the letter, be sure to watch the video that Tim
and Tom Huckman produced. They did a great job documenting and explaining the
current issues with our roof. Thank you, Tom for your clear explanations, and
Tim, for your excellent video and editing!! Click “Roof

Our Celebration of New Ministry
is on June 20 at 7:00 pm.
Mark your calendars, and plan to attend this festive service and celebration! Both
the Search Committee and the Liturgy Committee met this week to begin planning.
The Search Committee tells me that they would like for me to leave the meeting
after we finish our discussion on the roof, so that they can tell you about
their plans and how you can be involved. I don’t know what they have in mind,
but it sounds intriguing!!

FORWARD DAY BY DAY FOR
TODAY
THURSDAY, May 17, 2018
Acts 25:12 Then Festus, after he had
conferred with his council, replied [to Paul], “You have appealed to the emperor;
to the emperor you will go.”
Paul’s Roman citizenship comes into play once again.
Technically, at this point in history every Roman citizen has the right to
appeal their case to the Emperor. Yet the Roman justice system—with its
tribunes and appeals to the emperor—largely exists only for the wealthiest and
most important citizens. Justice and punishment for most people is settled
privately (e.g. revenge) or summarily (e.g. crucifixion).
Whereas Jesus is put on trial and crucified in Jerusalem, Paul’s
trial and eventual crucifixion will take place in Rome. What do you make of
early Christianity’s movement from the faraway backwaters of Judea to the
capital of the empire? Does Rome become the destination for Paul and others
because it is the seat of worldly power or because they might have rights and
benefits in Rome they wouldn’t have elsewhere? Or do they go to Rome to answer
the call of the Great Commission?

your life that may need some extra attention and love? Share your stories with

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Pentecost
Today we feel the wind beneath our
wings,
Today the hidden fountain flows and
plays,
Today the church draws breath at last
and sings,
As every flame becomes a tongue of
praise.
This is the feast of Fire, Air and
Water,
Poured out and breathed and kindled
into Earth.
The Earth herself awakens to her
maker,
Translated out of death and into
birth.
The right words come today in their
right order
And every word spells freedom and
release.
Today the gospel crosses every border,
All tongues are loosened by the Prince
of Peace.
Today the lost are found in his
translation,
Whose mother-tongue is love, in every
nation.
